Then
Built in 1951 to 1952 to a design by H. T. Swain of Hertfordshire County Council, with a steel frame and precast concrete panels. Historic England calls it the first of the second generation of Hertfordshire schools built on the prefabricated Hills system, which had tighter plans after the Ministry of Education changed its cost controls. John Swain, writing on Britain from Above, dates its opening to 8 September 1952, the same month as Little Furze. A pupil of the 1960s remembers Mr Donaldson and then Mr Roberts as head, and says its children went on to Clarendon School. It was listed Grade II on 30 March 1993. The list entry describes a single-storey building set around an open courtyard, with a tall hall that has a fully glazed end window, a lower dining room, and classrooms glazed above a low band of solid panels.5,24,28,136,566,567
Now
It is still a primary school, and still listed Grade II. It is a non-faith community school run by the county council, for children aged 3 to 11. The Historic England list entry gives the school's address as Prestwick Road, but its address today is Ellesborough Close.
