Then

The congregation began in 1944, when a few Carpenders Park members of Bushey and Oxhey Methodist Church started services in The Barn, a converted cow shed in Oxhey Lane. A war damage grant transferred from a bombed Methodist church in St John's Wood paid for a building of their own. Its foundation stones were laid on 30 August 1952, and South Oxhey's Methodist church on Prestwick Road opened on 28 March 1953, though some accounts give 1952. It was registered for weddings in 1954 as the Carpenders Park and South Oxhey Methodist Hall, and a resident recalls that it was only ever built as the church hall, with a full church planned beside it that never followed. The Rev. Stan Weary was minister there in 1956. In the 1960s the hall held yearly competitions between local horticultural societies. The church marked its golden jubilee on 28 March 2003.5,119,145,176,184,215,216,220,580,581,582,596,641,710

Now

By March 2011 Lovell had been chosen to build the first phase of a scheme to redevelop the Clitheroe Gardens site, which included the church, and the second phase was to bring a new church and community centre. The last of the old building was demolished on 17 October 2013, and a new church opened a few yards away in January 2014. The same Clitheroe Gardens scheme included a new Clitheroe Club, and an Age UK Hertfordshire health and wellbeing centre was launched there on 28 November 2014.
