Then
The first All Saints was built in 1953 for the new estate (Wikipedia gives 1954), taking over from St Alphege's, a daughter church in Carpenders Park that the first tenants had used. It became a parish in its own right by an Order in Council of 24 March 1961, though the parish history gives 1960.5,101,119,146,154,160,176,488,588,661
Now
The old church closed in 1993 after asbestos was found in its roof, and it stood boarded up until it was demolished in February 2000. Our Oxhey has photographs of the empty church taken just before it was pulled down, and a memory of watching it knocked down. A new church and community building replaced it on the same site. ASCEND works from the building in Gosforth Lane, with a reception staffed by volunteers and a cafeteria, and runs courses, allotment work and help into employment.
