Extended with £1.4 million from the Big Lottery Fund, it reopened on 5 September 2009 and is still a county council library. While the work went on the service ran from a temporary building at 39 Oxhey Drive, the old Civil Defence headquarters, from the summer of 2008 to August 2009.
