Then

The LCC's opening pamphlet of November 1947 records 502 steel houses going up in the south-east corner of the site, next to Little Oxhey Lane. The steel houses around the lane became known as Tin Town. The estate's first three shops opened here in April 1949, and a post office followed on 3 July 1950. Shops stayed scarce. A county education report of June 1951 counted only six shops on the whole estate, for 14,000 people. A resident who moved in about August 1951 remembers that the nearest shops and bus stop were here, so door to door salesmen called often. Photographs of 1960 show staff of Pinner Green Bakery, which traded in the small row of shops, and the 1960s Ordnance Survey marks a post office here. A view over the houses towards Woodhall Lane was taken from the balcony of the shops in 1968.5,23,25,113,117,142,165,438,450,473,594,595

Now

Our Oxhey's photographs of 1968 and 2013 show one of the tin houses directly opposite the parade. The parade is one of the estate's smaller ones, with flats above the shops. Shops still trade there. OpenStreetMap lists a pharmacy among them, and the bus stops beside the parade are named Shops.
