In the story
- Building the Estate: The estate goes up
Families were in Woodhall Lane by July 1948, and others remember moving to Caldwell Road, Liphook Road and Kilmarnock Road that year. - Getting about: The new station
Leaving by the proper route meant a long walk round to Woodhall Lane and the roads north of it, so some passengers crossed the live rails and climbed a fence instead, and a number were electrocuted. - Change and renewal: South Oxhey today
The estate also reaches into Oxhey Hall and Hayling ward, which takes in Hayling Road, and Carpenders Park ward, which takes in streets such as Woodhall Lane, so no single figure covers it all. - Rebuilding the centre: Phase 3: Lidl and Tom Lake Way
Our Oxhey's photographs of the old post office corner were taken on 26 November and 2 December 2020, as the demolition got under way, and a pair taken from Woodhall Lane show how the skyline changed once the last block went on 4 February 2021. - Woodhall Lane and the concrete houses
A Stent house of precast concrete on the corner of Woodhall Lane was photographed in 1948. - Woodhall Primary School
Families were living in Woodhall Lane by July 1948. Before enough local schools were built, many children from the estate travelled to schools in Watford or even back in London. - Little Oxhey Lane shops
A view over the houses towards Woodhall Lane was taken from the balcony of the shops in 1968.
