The name
Benton Road may take its name from Benton Park Golf Club (course now lost). Houses were built over the course after the Second World War and the estate was named the Fairways, while the club moved north and became Arcot Hall Golf Club.
Club dates: 1909 (course closed in the 1950s).
Where the club's facts come from: Benton Park Golf Club, Newcastle-on-Tyne. (1909 - 1950s), Golf's Missing Links.
How sure we are of the match: Possible
The estate's streets were named after golf courses. The streets page explains how each match was made.
We have not yet found anything written about this street itself. If you know when it was built or who first lived there, that would help.
