The name
Newport Mead may take its name from Newport Golf Club. Its first course was laid out by Willie Fernie, the 1883 Open champion, and Harry Colt was called in to advise on the Rogerstone course in 1912 to 1913.
Where the club's facts come from: Heritage | Newport Golf Club, the club's own history.
How sure we are of the match: Possible
The estate's streets were named after golf courses. The streets page explains how each match was made.
We have not yet found anything written about this street itself. If you know when it was built or who first lived there, that would help.
